Barbed wire, also referred to as barb wire, and occasionally known as bob wire or bobbed wire in the southeastern United States, is a type of fencing wire made of steel. It features sharp edges or points arranged at intervals along the strand(s). The primary purpose of barbed wire is to construct cost-effective fences and secure the tops of walls surrounding properties.
Barbed wire is a modern security fencing material crafted from high-tensile wire. Its installation serves as an effective deterrent and barrier against perimeter intruders, thanks to the presence of piercing and cutting razor blades mounted on the top of the wall. Additionally, the advanced designs make it extremely difficult for individuals to climb or touch the fence. To prevent corrosion, the wire and strip are either galvanized or PVC coated.
Types of Stainless Steel Barbed Wire
In agricultural fencing, there are generally two main types of barbed wire: soft or mild steel wire and high-strength steel wire. Both variants undergo galvanization to prolong their lifespan. High-strength steel wire is crafted from thinner yet stronger steel strands.
